- EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Develops and facilitates marketing strategies, including an annual marketing plan, to promote Rockwall as a premier convention and visitor destination for the benefit of the City, hotel industry, and downtown business community; manages production of all related media, including the website and written materials.
- Develops goals, objectives, policies, and procedures for both programs; prepares meetings, agendas, and minutes, and all reports required by the Texas Main Street Program, National Main Street Center, and funding agencies.
- Serves as liaison to local, state, and national meeting planners in coordinating conventions and events in Rockwall, and to the local and regional hospitality industry (hotels, restaurants, tour companies, retail centers, and area attractions), to promote tourism. Leads efforts in recruitment and retention of downtown businesses. Recruits and manages volunteers, Downtown Rockwall Association, and Friends of Downtown volunteers for the Rockwall Farmers Market.
- Attends and participates in professional groups, committees, conferences, conventions, trade shows, and special events in other cities to gather information and facilitate similar Rockwall activities; conducts overnight travel as necessary to meet with business prospects and attend marketing events, which may include evenings and weekends.
- Manages all administrative aspects of the Convention and Visitors Bureau and Main Street Program, including purchasing, recordkeeping, accounting, and administration of the annual CVB operating budget (forecasting funds for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies, and monitoring and approving expenditures).
- Prepares and presents written and oral reports on program activities and services.
- Responds to and resolves difficult and sensitive citizen/vendor inquiries and complaints.
- Required to report for work punctually, work all scheduled hours and any required overtime, and maintain attendance and a physical condition necessary for the proper performance of duties, with or without reasonable accommodation.
