The Best Texas Downtown award, established in 2025 on our 40th anniversary, celebrates communities creating vibrant, welcoming downtowns through economic development, historic preservation, partnerships, arts and culture, and connections across generations.

Presented through Texas Downtown’s President’s Awards program, once a year, this special designation honors one community under 50,000 population and one over 50,000, demonstrating how collaboration, commitment to local character, ingenuity, art, entertainment, public/private partnerships and more, come together to revitalize a community and inspire lasting downtown transformation. *Award winners receive a large outdoor sign to welcome residents and visitors alike to a "Best Texas Downtown!" Downtown Denison - 2025

Downtown Denison brings preservation, creativity, and community together in a distinctly Texas destination. With more than 300 businesses, over 150 pieces of public art, and $82 million in public and private reinvestment since its Main Street program began, the GAMSA (Great American Main Street award winner) Denison demonstrates the power of sustained collaboration. Restored storefronts, accessible streetscapes, and inclusive programming honor its heritage while creating new reasons for generations to gather, explore, and connect.

Known as the “Most Beautiful Town Square in Texas,” this GAMSA (Great American Main Street award winner), Georgetown demonstrates what decades of collaboration, thoughtful investment, and community pride can achieve. Its downtown blends historic preservation with creative reuse, thriving local businesses, arts, and beloved traditions and events like Red Poppy Fest. Through strong partnerships and a commitment to accessibility, Georgetown Main Street continues to build a welcoming downtown where generations connect and local character shines.
